About Mrs. Rodriguez

First of all, I LOVE being a first grade teacher. This is my 12th year teaching in the Osseo Area School district and my 9th year here at Rice Lake. I graduated from Saint Cloud State University in 2005 with a degree in Elementary Education and minors in Mathematics Instruction and Special Education. I completed my Masters of Arts in Education degree from Saint Mary’s University in the Fall of 2008. I use the Responsive Classroom Approach in my classroom in order to meet the social and academic needs of all the first graders in our classroom community. Please see the links below for more information about the Responsive Classroom Approach. I was also involved in the district’s TICT (Technology Integration Collaborative Teachers) Initiative. I look forward to integrating technology into your first grader’s learning this year. I strongly believe in the power of integrating curriculum to best meet your child’s needs. I strive to integrate social studies, science, and health concepts into our reading and math instruction. Because every student learns concepts at a different pace, I work every day to differentiate my instruction to meet the needs of the learners in my classroom. I know the importance of working with small flexible groups in both reading and math in order to meet the learning needs of the first graders in my classroom. Finally, but most important, I hope to provide a comfortable, safe, and caring environment for your child to grow, learn, and have fun in this year.

Besides teaching, I have many other interests. I am married to a wonderful man named David. We are the proud parents of a beautiful girl named Mia Carol and an busy boy named David James. Mia was born on June 12, 2010. She is a funny girl who loves to run, play, sing, do gymnastics, and color. She is going to be in Kindergarten this year at Hassan Elementary School in Rogers. David was born on April 20, 2013. He is such a silly boy! He loves superheroes, sports, and trying anything he thinks is dangerous. We also have the world’s best dog, our boxer Lola. She is 11 years old and is so good with our two crazy kids. I also enjoy spending time reading in coffee shops, exploring on my iPad, gymnastics, and taking trips to our small cabin. I would love the opportunity to travel more and cherish the time I spend with loved ones.

I am always open for comments, questions, or concerns. Please do not hesitate to call, email, or stop in. Lastly, thank you for sharing your child with me this school year. I hope it will be a great year for us all.
