We are learning all about rocks. We started the day by reading the book “If You Find a Rock.” We activated our prior knowledge and recorded some of the things we already know about rocks. During and after reading we recorded the most important facts from the book.

During science we were geologists and made observations on 3 different types of rocks. We used a magnifying glass and rubbed the rocks together. I was very impressed with the accurate and descriptive observations the first graders made.

In math we showed money amounts in a variety of ways.

Our phonics lessons this week will focus on the /or/ sound.

Finally, here is a project from on of our guided reading groups. They described the main character from the book we read together.
