Mrs. Rodriguez's First Grade Class Blog

Monday and Tuesday

on October 15, 2014

We had a big surprise when we came to school Monday morning. We now had adult butterflies and our mealworms went from the pupa stage to the adult stage. We learned that they turned into beetles! So exciting! Look at these scientists busy at work making observations.

Today, Mrs. Williams taught us a fun greeting called the shoe greeting. We each had to put one shoe in the middle of the circle. One by one we picked a shoe, guessed who it belonged to, and greeted that person. So fun!

During our read aloud we learned that good readers read with expression. Mo Willems’ pigeon books are great book to practice reading with expression. This book was also a great way to teach about the three different types of sentences.

During math, we got to choose how to practice solving addition equations. We could solve story problems, do domino addition, or solve a variety of addition equations.
