Monday’s Highlights

on November 12, 2013

Today we started a new unit in social studies. We will compare life long ago to life today. To begin, we learned what the words past, present, and future mean. We even learned what a timeline is. We created our own timelines today. Your first grader should have brought his or her home. Later this week we will compare how school today is different from school long ago. We will also compare transportation and communication.
In math we practiced finding missing partners in both equations and story problems. I took some pictures of math stations. I must have had a goofy setting on my camera so all my pictures are a but dark, but you get the idea. 🙂
We had the mini iPads today and we used an app called math problems. It was a great way to practice solving word problems. The first graders could draw the problem, use a number line, use pictures, or an equation.

Here are some more pictures.

Have a great night!
