Mrs. Rodriguez's First Grade Class Blog

Rice Lake Elementary

Busy day,

on December 14, 2012

Today we continued our study of holidays around the world. We learned about Mexican traditions and also learned about the legend of the poinsettia. After reading the book The Legend of the Poinsettia we created our own poinsettias using nothing else but shaving cream! Here are some pictures.

We will cut them out tomorrow.
We also spent some time during Writer’s Workshop adding our finishing touches to our fancy copies. Some of us are even adding covers and title pages!
We had media with Mrs. Erickson. She introduced us to the amazing author and illustrator Jan Brett. We read her story The Gingerbread Baby.
In art, we worked on adding decorations to our gingerbread men.
Finally, before music we had a lesson from Mrs. Paton. She taught us more about empathy and how we can treat others depending on how they are feeling. Happy Thursday!
