Great Day!

on November 30, 2010

We had a great day in B3!  Here are just some of the things we did today.

  • We practiced making the lowercase l in our handwriting books.
  • We learned our new spelling words for this week.  We learned that many of our words are either in the -ang or -ing family.
  • We learned the accuracy reading strategy of Chunky Monkey.  If we come to a words we do not know we can use Chunky Monkey.  We look for word chunks that we know to help us sound out the word. For example, in the word ringing, we can chunk the -ing word chunk.
  • We practiced solving addition, subtraction, and missing partner equations and story problems in math.  Our math test is on Thursday.  Sometimes it is tricky determining if a story problem is an adding or subtracting story problem.
  • We had Writer’s Workshop today.  We read the book A Chair For My Mother by Vera B. Williams.  Ms. Williams does a great job of taking a small moment and stretching it out over multiple pages to make it more interesting.  We practiced writing like her when writing our own personal narratives.
  • We learned about our kidneys and bladder in science.  We made a model that the students can do at home.

Remember, no school on Friday.  It is report card marking day!
